Oil-Free Maglev Compressor Shutdown Fault Troubleshooting | Professional Maintenance Ensures Long-Term Stable Operation

Fault Discovery: Device Fails to Start with Unlevitated Bearings

The customer’s equipment ran stably at full load for one month and was then shut down for a 5-day holiday break. When restarting after the holiday, the device failed to start with maglev bearings unable to levitate normally, and the whole machine entered lockout protection mode, suspending production.

Upon receiving the feedback, we immediately provided remote guidance for disassembly and inspection, comprehensively checking the status of core components and accurately locating the root cause of the fault.

 

Fault Cause: Condensed Environmental Oil Impairs Bearing Operation

Comprehensive disassembly and inspection confirmed that the fault was not caused by damaged core components, but by the combination of environmental pollution and long-term shutdown. There were trace oil and gas impurities in the customer’s factory air. During continuous operation, internal air circulation and equipment operation prevented oil accumulation. However, after 5 days of static shutdown, the suspended oil and gas in the air continuously adhered to the interior of the equipment and finally condensed into oil deposits.

The condensed oil adhered to the bearing assembly and increased operating resistance, which directly prevented the maglev bearings from levitating during startup and triggered the equipment’s self-protection mechanism. Fortunately, the oil deposit only affected the surface structure. The core maglev bearings and impeller remained intact without irreversible damage, enabling rapid repair and recovery.

 Shutdown Protection: Conduct comprehensive sealing protection for the equipment during long-term shutdown or holidays to prevent oil vapor, dust and other impurities from entering the interior and causing condensation and accumulation.

 Pre-Startup Inspection: Complete internal cleaning and bearing condition inspection before restarting if the equipment has been shut down for more than 3 days. Confirm no oil accumulation or jamming before startup.

 Regular Inspection: Establish a daily inspection mechanism to regularly monitor internal operating conditions and inlet air cleanliness, remove residual impurities timely, and maintain a precise operating environment for maglev components.
